Riley Tucker has not smiled much lately. The spark that used to fill his days has faded, and no one seems to know how to bring it back. But far above the clouds, someone has noticed. And they are sending help. Enter Sid: a bouncy, bright-eyed Moon Blob on his very first mission—to help a lonely kid on Earth rediscover happiness. Sid’s methods are… a little unconventional, and he will do whatever it takes to make Riley laugh again. But there is something mysterious about Sid—something Riley cannot quite grasp. Maybe Riley is not the only one who needs help.

As the days grow brighter and their bond deepens, the adventure unfolds. Will Riley find happiness, will Sid complete his mission, or will the evil Space Hamsters invade Earth and destroy everything? Well, that last thing probably will not happen, but that does not mean that it could not. Find out for yourself; kick back and enjoy, Sid the Blob.

Prologue: The Legend of the Moon Blob

There is an old legend whispered among children, one that has been around just as long as any fairytale or campfire story. Some of you may have heard it spoken before, but I would bet my bottom dollar that most of you have not. Moon Blobs— I know what you are thinking, and that is that there is no such thing. As far as adults are concerned, they are no different than imaginary friends talked about by their kids. Most children would say the same, because only a select few are actually visited by these bizarre little guys. On top of that, grown-ups are not able to see or interact with these cosmic little creatures either. To make them even more unbelievable, once a child transitions into an adult, specifically on their 18th birthday, all memories of the Moon Blobs magically disappear.

You might be wondering who I am, and for now, let us just say I am someone who did not forget about their Moon Blob. How is that possible, you ask? Well, that is thanks to this little necklace fashioned from a space gem that was given to me by a very special friend of mine. But before we get into our story, here is a little something you should know. The Moon Blobs are said to have been born from the first tears of starlight that ever fell upon the Moon. From that silver vapor came these creatures of light and empathy. They lack a proper body and bones, but they have a ton of heart. The legend says that the Moon Blobs were caretakers. They watched humankind below and listened for the silent cries that no adult could hear— the unspoken sorrow of children who felt invisible. When a child most needs a friend, there’s always a chance that the wish made upon a star falls to the Moon. When this happens, a Blob stirs from its resting place and drifts downward to Earth. It arrives carried upon a beam of silver light, slipping soundlessly through the night to the child in need.

For centuries, this legend passed through every culture, taking slightly different names—the Moon Companions, the Silver Listeners, the Dream Bugs—but the purpose of these creatures remained unchanged. Yet as the ages advanced and cities grew bright enough to drown the stars, faith in such things began to fade. Children learned to look down at their glowing screens instead of up at the luminous sky. The Blobs, it is said, withdrew from the Earth then, retreating into the hidden folds of lunar valleys, waiting patiently for the next soul that believes in a little lunar magic and needs a friend. Some nights, when the world grows quiet and the sky feels impossibly vast, you may notice the faintest shimmer moving across the face of the Moon. I will let you in on a little secret: that is no illusion of light, but a Moon Blob watching from above, searching for a child who needs a friend. Which brings us to a curious little guy named Sid the Blob…
